Our organization is formally chartered as John W. Luff Parent Teacher Association, Three Trails Region, Independence, Missouri. It is a local PTA under the authority of the Missouri Congress of Parents and Teachers (the Missouri PTA), a branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers (the National PTA).

We are recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit, Tax-Exempt public charity. Our Tax ID (EIN) is 23-7067473.

The Purposes of the John W. Luff PTA, in common with those of the National PTA and the Missouri PTA are:

1. To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, place of worship, and throughout the community;

2. To raise the standards of home life.

3. To advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare and safety of children and youth;

4. To promote the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth; and

5. To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth; and

6. To advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding.

Membership of our organization is open, without discrimation, to anyone who believes in and supports the mission and purposes of National PTA. Every individual who is a member of this local PTA is, by virtue of that fact, a member of the National PTA and of the Missouri PTA by which this local PTA is chartered, and is entitled to all the benefits of such membership.

While we conduct an annual enrollment of members, interested individuals are welcome to join at any time. The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30. Each member of this local PTA shall pay annual dues as determined by the organization. The amount of such dues include a portion payable to the Missouri PTA (the state portion) and a portion payable to the National PTA (the national portion).
